Due to the rapid development of technologies that are transforming the labor market, the role of non-formal education is becoming increasingly important. Non-formal education, characterized by its flexibility, accessibility and learner-centred approach, is fundamentally changing the way students acquire knowledge and skills outside of traditional formal education. Examples of non-formal education can be advanced training programs, vocational training and retraining, courses, lectures, seminars and workshops, including those conducted online. In 2018, the “Rules for the recognition of learning results obtained through non-formal education” were approved, which allow universities to transfer the results of non-formal learning.
According to the rules for organizing the educational process for distance learning, students can master up to 20% of disciplines “through non-formal education” (for details, please contact the AITU Academic Affairs Department).
Non-formal education has emerged as a dynamic force changing the landscape of higher education. It complements traditional training, addresses the changing needs of the workforce and provides accessible, flexible and personalized learning opportunities. As higher education institutions continue to adapt to the demands of the 21st century, the role of non-formal education will undoubtedly grow, providing students with the opportunity to thrive in a world of continuous change and innovation.
