The educational program of the doctoral program in the specialty “Project Management” is aimed at training scientific personnel of project management in the digital economy, who are able to develop new knowledge in the field of project management and its implementation in practice.
Teaching practice is a kind of practical activities of graduate students, including teaching, organization of educational activity of students, scientific and methodical work on the subject, obtaining skills in teacher’s work.
The discipline is designed to form an understanding of the methodology, patterns, principles, and paradigms of modernity necessary for scientific personnel in the field of project management to generate and implement research and research projects in various fields at macro and micro levels in the context of digital transformation. Doctoral students will study domestic and foreign scientific research carried out in the field of project management, and will form a comprehensive understanding of the methodology and research methods used in practice and the scientific research environment, and it will also be possible to use innovative technology for conducting research in project management. During the study, SPSS, STATA, SAS and others will be used.
The discipline is aimed at developing competencies that contribute to understanding the historical and semantic aspects of a scientific text, the differences in the structures and organization of scientific texts, writing their own scientific texts that meet the requirements accepted in the international scientific community. As a result of studying the discipline, doctoral students will use global databases such as Web of Science, Scopus, Elsevier, EBSCO and others. They will also master the use of programs Mendeley, EndNote and others.
The discipline is aimed at developing an understanding of the methodological base of models, methods and tools of project management, taking into account the concept of sustainable development and software. This discipline considers a scientific approach to the study of the convergence of the principles of sustainable development and the theory of project management, modeling, the choice of methods and the use of software, analysis and generalization of models and methods of existing project management standards. Doctoral students will use programs such as Trello, Wrike, Basecamp, Miro for assignments.
This module is designed to strengthen students ” research and cross-cutting skills, especially in relation to research and communication in an English language environment. The courses cover several areas of scientific skills, including scientific communication and presentation skills, theory of science, scientific methodology, and teamwork skills.
The discipline is aimed at studying transformation systems based on project management in the environment of digital organization and digital management; external and internal factors in conditions of uncertainty; understanding the features of change management in the field of digitalization and information technology using Oracle Primavera, Atlassian Jira and others software products.
The discipline is aimed at developing an understanding of the basics of standards (PMBOK, IPMA, PMI, etc.) and basic competencies of project management, terminological unity in project management in Kazakhstan and abroad. The best world practices of standards such as the USB 3.0 Standard, the American Project Manager Competence Development Framework standard, the British APM Competence Framework standard, the international GAPPS initiative and others will be considered. Also, doctoral students study the development of educational programs for training advanced training based on the studied standards for project management specialists.
This discipline is aimed at in-depth understanding of the application of flexible “Agile” and hybrid project management in companies producing technological products and technological services. Doctoral students research, analyze and summarize how organizations developing technological products and services apply hybrid approaches to project management, their characteristics, advantages and disadvantages. They will study the use of flexible and hybrid frameworks such as Scrum, Lean, Kanban, Six Sigma, etc. to project management taking into account organizational culture, specific processes, contractual requirements and project specifics. Also, doctoral students will master and use software such as Microsoft Project, ClickUp.
This discipline is aimed at studying the fundamentals of strategic management and the principles of organizing the company’s activities in the context of applying the principles of the concept of sustainable development in the context of digital transformation; methodology for developing models of management organization; application of the strategy of sustainability and sustainability support. Doctoral students study the PRiSM Method and the use of the P5 Standard for sustainability in project management, as well as the world’s best practices. This course is aimed at studying the basics and possibilities of data analysis in project management using various digital technologies for collecting and analyzing information using Big Data or other statistical aggregators; using Excel and Google Tables, SQL and Python to systematize data and technologies like Business Intelligence (BI) for collecting and analyzing project indicators; defining an algorithm for optimizing project management data. Doctoral students study strategic, predictive, operational and other types of analytics based on big data, aimed at identifying the status and evaluation in project management of organizations and companies in the context of digital transformation.
The purpose of the NIRM is to develop the ability to independently perform research work related to solving professional tasks necessary in the further scientific and professional activities. NIRM helps to systematize, consolidate and expand theoretical knowledge, develop statistical methods in project management, master the elements of independent research work.
The thesis is a written scholarship work in which it must be documented that the candidate is independently able to apply scientific and practical methods to handle complex tasks taken from certain subject areas, including not only specific individual technical details, but also broader implications. The dissertation combines the competencies obtained as a result of research and applies them to the topic of the dissertation preferred in the same company as the case study and the project. It provides scientific analysis and analysis covering the entire spectrum of the educational program and the corresponding scientific problem.
