On November 30, 2022, professor and international coordinator of the Faculty of Computer Science of Schmalkalden University of Applied Sciences (SUAS), Germany Dr. Kurt Englmeier visited Astana IT University.
During the meeting, the Vice-Rector for Academic and Educational Work, B. Kumalakov made a presentation of the university, and also suggested some of the main areas of cooperation, such as attracting German students to AITU and exchange of teaching staff to learn best foreign practices, namely under the DAAD, Erasmus+ funding.
Dr. Englmeier, in turn, expressed readiness for cooperation in these areas. In particular, the parties supported the idea of creating a joint digital platform for the implementation of the exchange program as an alternative to the traditional learning format. The professor also mentioned new disciplines of the Faculty of Computer Science offered in English for foreign students.
Following the meeting, a tour of the laboratories, the scientific library and coworking area was held. As a result, Dr. Englmeier expressed great interest in attracting SUAS students to study at AITU as part of the incoming academic mobility.
It should be noted that the Cooperation Agreement with the Schmalkalden University of Applied Sciences was signed in 2020. In general, 25 AITU students concluded their semester studies under the outgoing academic mobility at SUAS. 11 students are planning to start their mobility program from the spring semester of 2022-2023 academic year.
