– Research and development of open-source solutions for automating the function of supporting high speeds and low latency in 5G networks
– Development of the OpenFlow protocol for interaction of network elements via the Application Programming Interface (API) in scalable software-defined networks (SDN).
– Network Function Virtualization (NVF) using Docker and OpenStack technologies.
– Monitoring data traffic, its type and determining the maximum number of connected devices.
– The concept of building a signal synchronization system in networks built using packet switching technology and 5G networks.
– Development of methods for ensuring the security of 5G networks.
– Research and development of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) methods for network resource management, route planning, traffic planning, fault diagnostics and network security.
– Research and development of open-source solutions for automating the function of supporting a huge number of endpoints in 5G.
– Analysis of MAC protocol characteristics in 5G New Radio mobile networks taking into account load intensity.
– Creation of a demo prototype of a private 5G network in the Open-RAN concept for the implementation of the following service provision scenarios:
– eMBB (enhanced Mobile Broadband);
– URLLC (Ultra-Reliable Low Latency Communication);
– mMTC (massive Machine-Type Communications).
At the submission stage, the level of technological readiness of the developments corresponds to the 2nd level of technological readiness of the developments – “Applied research. Selection of a technological concept”.
At the completion stage, the level of technological readiness of the developments will correspond to the 5th level – “Experimental developments. Experimental design work. Pilot production and testing”. (According to the methodology for determining the technological readiness level (TRL) of scientific organizations and research universities, and their developments specified in the Appendix to the order of the Chairman of the Science Committee of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education).
5G and Open-RAN:
Studied Open-RAN architecture, key technologies and standards.
Analyzed initiatives (O-RAN Alliance) and vendor solutions.
Selected vDU module as a component of 5G SA base station.
Switching and routing:
Studied SDN, OpenFlow, modeling tools and controllers (ONOS, Ryu).
Considered AI/ML for resource management and security.
Systematized data (5G Traffic Datasets, InSDN) for model training.
