Development of an intelligent system for monitoring the removal and disposal of medical waste in the Zhambyl region

Project objective: to develop a comprehensive software solution to effectively monitor, manage and analyze the process of removal and disposal of medical waste in order to ensure compliance with sanitary standards, reduce the harmful impact on the environment and ensure environmentally sustainable waste disposal methods.

Project objectives:

  • Study the needs of medical institutions and government agencies for information on the removal and disposal of medical waste;
  • Determine the degree of environmental impact of medical waste on the environment of the region and a list of key parameters for assessing the risk of removal and disposal of medical waste;
  • Develop scientific and methodological foundations (approaches, principles, methods) for a mechanism for collecting data related to the formation, collection, transportation and disposal of medical waste for further structuring and designing a database;
  • Study time series and an algorithm for predicting peak loads on the removal and disposal system using artificial intelligence methods and technologies;
  • Design the overall architecture of the system, including databases, user interfaces, data integration points and security measures. The database should reflect the business logic of waste disposal organizations and meet the requirements for data consistency and security. The interface should be fully functional and user-friendly.
  • Develop methods of sensor and IoT technologies for monitoring the fullness of waste containers
  • Design a subsystem for automatic collection of data on the removal and disposal of medical waste using methods of integration with data sources (GPS trackers). Sensor technologies and IoT devices are required to collect real-time data, enabling real-time monitoring of medical waste disposal processes;
  • Develop a route optimization algorithm taking into account various parameters such as distance and waste type;
  • Develop and implement AI and machine learning algorithms capable of analyzing data, identifying patterns, and providing actionable recommendations to improve waste disposal processes.
  • Testing and validating the intelligent system to confirm the functionality of the system and its ability to achieve the project objectives.

WP1. Assessment of the impact of medical waste on the regional environment and a list of key parameters for assessing the risk of removal and disposal of medical waste; systematization and structuring of data on medical waste for the design of an information system

List of specifications and technical requirements for the development of the system; list of parameters affecting the regional environment and the results of the assessment of these parameters; comprehensive scientific and methodological document, including important parameters of the system (waste types, volumes, frequency of collection and disposal methods); methods of structuring data, protocols for collecting and transmitting data, integration with existing systems for ensuring environmental sustainability, recommendations for providing data from medical institutions, a plan for the implementation and introduction of the system

WP2. Design of the overall system architecture and development of an IoT model for monitoring the removal and disposal of medical waste

 

Algorithm for predicting peak loads on the system; algorithm for data processing; identification of the impact of business logic of the work of medical institutions in terms of waste disposal; article and (or) review in peer-reviewed scientific publications indexed in the Science Citation Index Expanded of the Web of Science database and (or) having a percentile according to CiteScore in the Scopus database of at least 50 (fifty);

WP 3: Developing and implementing artificial intelligence and machine learning algorithms that can analyze data, identify patterns, and provide actionable insights to improve waste management and treatment processes

A subsystem for automatic collection of data on the removal and disposal of medical waste using methods of integration with data sources (GPS, IoT devices); an algorithm for optimizing routes taking into account various parameters, such as distance and type of waste; artificial intelligence and machine learning algorithms capable of analyzing data, identifying patterns and providing practical recommendations for improving waste disposal and treatment processes; system testing results; implementation of research results in organizations engaged in the removal and disposal of medical waste in the Zhambyl region and obtaining an act on implementation into production; obtaining at least 1 patent for an invention (including a positive decision on it) in the Kazakhstan Patent Bureau; publication of a monograph

– for the entire period of the project implementation, at least 2 (two) articles or reviews in peer-reviewed scientific publications indexed in SCIE Web of Science Q1-Q3 by impact factor or with a CiteScore percentile in Scopus of at least 65 (sixty-five); as well as at least (one) article in a peer-reviewed foreign or domestic publication recommended by the Committee on the Review of Scientific Research in the Field of Scientific Research
