Project goal: development of an algorithm for creating an online platform that will provide physics teachers with access to a wide range of educational materials, lesson plans, simulations and interactive tools.
Years of implementation: 2024–2026
Funding amount: 29,999,996 tenge
Education is the foundation of our future, and the quality of education plays a key role in the formation of scientific and technical culture and successful careers of future generations. Physics is a fundamental science, but students often find it difficult to understand its concepts and effectively study the subject. Today, research is being conducted in the field of fundamental physics, as well as education in general. But there is a significant gap in the field of research on the effectiveness of teaching physics. Accordingly, at present, teaching physics in schools faces a number of challenges, such as insufficient motivation of students, limited teaching materials. The solution to the latter problem will be described in this project. The idea of the project is to find a concept for creating an online platform that provides physics teachers with a full set of tools and resources to improve their teaching methods, increase student engagement, and improve overall learning outcomes. The concept of the platform will be proposed within the framework of the Zhas Galym project, while the creation of the platform is planned to be carried out within the framework of grant funding for young scientists. The platform will be built on the principles of evidence-based education and will facilitate cooperation between physics teachers to share best practices.
1) Collection of data on the number of students who chose the physics specialty in universities of the Republic of Kazakhstan and their successful completion of their studies.
2) Analysis of the level of preparation of graduates for teaching physics in Kazakhstan.
3) Analysis of existing platforms freely available for beginning physics teachers and university graduates.
4) Analysis of the system of training universities in England and obtaining a QTS (Qualified teacher status) certificate
5) Creation of a consolidated analysis of recommendations for universities in Kazakhstan on the preparation of materials for both physics teachers and related engineering specialties.
Within the framework of this project, an algorithm of an online platform for physics teachers will be proposed. The idea of the platform will be researched and analyzed based on the existing database in Kazakhstan, as well as on the practice of universities in England, based on the needs and characteristics of the education system of the Republic of Kazakhstan. It will be proposed to create an analogue of the educational program of England Postgraduate Certificate in Education. (PGCE). At the initial stage, it will be proposed to implement this model online, with the prospect of introducing this program in universities of Kazakhstan offline.
