On October 20–21, 2025, Astana IT University hosted the AI Science Hackathon 2025, organized by the Association for the Development of Artificial Intelligence in the Republic of Kazakhstan, together with the Young Researchers Alliance and Astana IT University.
The event brought together about 100 scientists, researchers, and industry experts. Over two days, participants developed 23 project concepts aimed at solving current scientific and applied problems using artificial intelligence technologies.
As a result, four projects were selected as winners — each receiving a funding opportunity of up to 10 million KZT from KDL Olymp and the Respublica Party.
Winners of AI Science Hackathon 2025:
EpiQ AI — a model for predicting the demand for laboratory reagents and optimizing planning and procurement processes based on medical data.
AI-YM — an AI system for recognizing and generating Kazakh sign language, improving accessibility in inclusive education.
TandauAI — an intelligent system helping students make informed educational choices based on interests and labor market trends.
Virtual Medical Assistant — an AI solution for automating medical documentation and supporting diagnostic decisions.
