Scientific Board

The Scientific Board of the University (hereinafter – the Scientific Board) is one of the forms of collegial management of a higher educational institution. The Scientific Board of the University is created by order of the rector of the University.
The Scientific Board of the University may include the rector, vice-rectors, heads of structural divisions, representatives of teaching staff, student and public organizations of the University.

Scientific Board Objectives

  • Contributing to the further development of the University;
  • Combining the efforts of the University’s management, its teaching staff, administrative and managerial personnel, educational support staff and maintenance personnel in order to prepare highly qualified, competitive specialists that meet modern requirements;
  • Creation of necessary conditions for students and faculty of the University for the successful implementation of vocational education programs and development strategies of the University.

Competencies of the Scientific Board

  • Approves the structure of the University;
  • Makes changes and additions to the University Charter;
  • Defines the strategy and concept of the University;
  • Makes proposals on the creation, reorganization and liquidation of structural units of the University (laboratories, departments, institutes, faculties, etc.);
  • Makes decisions on all fundamental issues of the organization of educational, research, international research activities of the University;
  • Listens to the annual reports of the rector, vice-rectors of the University, heads of structural units of the University on the forms and methods of conducting educational, research, educational, international, informational activities;

  • Defines new directions for training specialists in a multi-level system of higher professional education, terms and forms of training;
  • Approves the curriculum of all levels and forms of training;
  • Considers and recommends for publication monographs, textbooks, teaching aids, and teaching materials;
  • Makes decisions on the transfer of students from the paid department to an educational grant and to study in the form of external studies;
  • Makes a decision on awarding a rector's grant to students of the University;
  • Makes decisions on the appointment of a scholarship established by the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan and nominal scholarships;
  • Presents to the award of academic titles of associate professor (senior lecturer) and professor;
  • Considers questions on the representation of University staff and creative collectives for state, government awards and honorary titles;
  • Considers other issues of the University, requiring a collegial decision.
