Aim of the Department
To create conditions for the organization and effective work of scientific and innovative teams, including students, undergraduates and doctoral students of the University, for the implementation of innovative scientific and technical ideas, social and business projects.

Functions of the Department
Organization, consultation, information and support for faculty, students and employees to participate in competitions for projects, awards, personal scholarships funded by the state and other funds.
Implementation of activities in accordance with annual plans and regulations, covering research, project and other types of work.
Organization and holding of competitions (hackathon), exhibitions, conferences and master classes for interested students and teachers.
Organization of activities of the Academic Council, Scientific and Technical Council, Council of Young Scientists, etc.
Conducting joint research and other contractual work with domestic and foreign universities and research centers.
Assistance in the preparation of master's, doctoral dissertations in the relevant field of scientific directions
Support on the protection of intellectual property, copyright certificates, patenting of scientific / design developments and technologies.
Organization of the work of the international journal AITU and its promotion in scientometric bases.ntific reports, speeches, scientific articles, participation in program committees, editorial boards of scientific events as chairman, deputy , moderator, etc.
Conducting and participating in scientific and practical events (conferences, congresses, symposia, round tables, etc.) with reports, speeches, articles.
Participation in program committees, editorial boards of scientific and practical events as co-organizers.
Creation of conditions for the commercialization of the results of scientific and (or) technical activities in order to attract investments.
Organization and management of coworking space AITU, Atameken Space: attracting third-party IT startups, providing office space to residents, passing internships, holding a meeting of the IT Council under the akim of Nur-Sultan.
Strengthening the links of scientific research with the educational process by widely involving teachers and students in research work, as well as actively using research results in the educational process, focusing disciplines on project activities, monitoring the quality of term papers and diploma projects.
Preparation and provision of summary information and AITU documents for attestation, accreditation, as well as other bodies upon request.

Industry 4.0 Research and Innovation Center — conducts research in the following areas: research, optimization, and modeling of intelligent industrial solutions;
AgroTech Research and Innovation Center — conducts research in the following areas: remote sensing, precision agriculture and livestock farming, UAVs and robotics, digital field maps;
SmartCity Research and Innovation Center — conducts research on the development of intelligent solutions using information and communication technologies and artificial intelligence for the smart cities of the future through science, innovation, and successful collaborations.
Big Data and Blockchain Technologies Research and Innovation Center — conducts research in the following areas: artificial intelligence, big data, and blockchain technologies.
AI Research and Innovation Center — conducts research in the following areas: artificial intelligence, biometrics, video analytics, and computer vision.
MedTech Research and Innovation Center — conducts research in the following areas: the application of artificial intelligence in MedTech, digital medical technologies, and data.
CyberTech Research and Innovation Center — conducts research in the following area: development of a laboratory in the field of cybersecurity.
FabLab Research Laboratory, which serves as the material, technical, and methodological base for the research process.
Astana IT University publishes the international scientific journal “Scientific Journal of Astana IT University”, which features publications by scholars from different countries and enables the university’s academic community to collaborate effectively at the international level. The journal is planned to be indexed in the Scopus and Web of Science databases.

Scientific indicators
The University actively participates in competitions for scientific and scientific and technical activities, as a result of which projects of grant financing of the Science Committee of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan are implemented with a total amount of over 150 million tenge for 2021-2023.

To motivate young scientists, the university annually allocates intra-university grants for the implementation of scientific projects.
AITU faculty actively publishes scientific works in publications indexed in Scopus and Web of Science with quartile Q1-Q2.
In order to promote Kazakhstani science and to exchange advanced results in the field of ICT, AITU annually hosts an international scientific conference under the auspices of the international community IEEE “2021 IEEE Smart Information Systems and Technologies”, where scientists and specialists from various sectors of the IT industry from countries of near and far abroad are expected to participate.
