Research Ethics Committee

The Ethics Committee is a permanent functioning body under the Scientific and Technical Council of AITU

The Committee promotes basic ethical principles in AITU’s research activities: research and creative freedom, objectivity, public disclosure of research results, protection of copyright and intellectual property, and the rights and freedoms of individuals involved in research.

The main objective of the Committee

The Committee’s primary objectives are monitoring the observance of the rights of people involved as research participants, addressing ethical issues related to research, and protecting the rights and interests of researchers.

To achieve its objective, the Committee focuses on:

  • Ethical review of compliance with ethical norms and control of ethical risks associated with the rights and freedoms of subjects, such as ensuring the presence of informed consent, safeguarding confidentiality, and protecting the mental health and safety of participants.
  • Ethical review of protecting research participants’ rights, dignity, safety, and health.
  • Ethical review of compliance with academic integrity in the preparation and publication of research results (plagiarism, falsified research results, copyright violations, and others).
  • Ethical review of submitted research materials such as research protocols, methodologies, and informed consent forms for participants, ensuring adherence to ethical and legal requirements for human-involved research.
  • Conducting reviews of amendments to research protocols and providing ethical support for human-involved research by regulatory documents until completion.

Duties and powers of the Committee

The Committee’s duties include:
a) Reviewing the research protocol, methodologies, and informed consent forms for research participants;
