Entrance exam for admission to Astana IT University

The exam consists of 2 modules and is conducted in a computer-based test format.

Format of conducting

Fee: 3,000 KZT.
Number of attempts: 2 (Each attempt is paid separately)
If the applicant fails the exam after two attempts, they lose the right to enroll both on a tuition-paying basis and under a state grant.
Equipment Requirements:
To take the AET, the applicant must use a personal computer or laptop with a built-in or external webcam.

Important! If you plan to participate in the grant competition, the AET entrance exams must be taken by July 1.
1 module
Time-60 Minutes
0–19 points – retake of the module.
20–29 points — admission to the university is carried out on a tuition-paying basis, provided that the applicant completes English language courses at AITU; eligibility to participate in the competition for an educational grant is excluded.
30–50 points – successful completion of the examination; admission to the university is on a tuition-paying basis and the possibility to participate in the scholarship competition.
Applicants who hold the following valid international certificates (originals), confirming English language proficiency according to the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR), are exempt from taking the first English module:
• International English Language Testing System (IELTS) – minimum score 5.0;
• Test of English as a Foreign Language Institutional Testing Program (TOEFL ITP) – minimum 460 points;
• Test of English as a Foreign Language Internet-based Test (TOEFL iBT) – score 46–59;
• Aptis certificate – corresponding to level B1;
• B1 level certificates issued by InterPress language centers in Astana, Almaty, and Karaganda in 2024–2025;
• AITU Foundation.

Time-60 Minutes
10–24 points — admission to the university is carried out on a tuition-paying basis, provided that the applicant completes courses in the fundamentals of computer science and logic at AITU; eligibility to participate in the competition for an educational grant is excluded.
25-50 points - successful completion of the module.
Persons who have certificates as AITU iCode, as well as those who have completed AITU Foundation training in computer science, are exempt from passing the corresponding module.
