Astana AI Week 2026: Astana Concludes the Largest International Artificial Intelligence Week

From July 7 to 9, the alem.ai International Artificial Intelligence Center hosted Astana AI Week 2026—one of Kazakhstan’s largest artificial intelligence events, bringing together more than 400 researchers, developers, students, business leaders, government representatives, and international experts.

The event was organized by Astana IT University, the Akimat of Astana, Astana Innovations, IEEE Kazakhstan Section, and Qaz.AI, with the support of Young Researchers Alliance, Astana Hub, alem.ai, Qazaq Oil, Kazakhmys, and HAQ MedHub.

Over the course of three days, participants discussed key trends in artificial intelligence, showcased innovative technologies, exchanged expertise, and explored new opportunities for collaboration. The forum featured expert sessions, keynote speeches by internationally recognized speakers, an AI innovation exhibition, technology demonstrations, networking events, and an AI Hackathon focused on the Industry and Healthcare tracks.

One of the forum’s key highlights was the official launch of HAQ MedHub, the first infrastructure platform bringing together healthcare organizations, universities, researchers, physicians, and AI developers to create and implement safe Health AI solutions. The new platform will serve as a unified ecosystem where high-quality data, scientific expertise, and advanced technologies will contribute to the development of digital healthcare and improve the quality of medical services.

On the second day, special attention was given to the application of artificial intelligence in healthcare. Experts presented cutting-edge developments in neurotechnology, intelligent rehabilitation, prosthetics, and digital medicine. Among the projects showcased by Astana IT University was NEUROPRO, an AI-powered system that analyzes brain signals to determine a person's emotional state and level of fatigue. Participants were also introduced to innovative solutions in exoskeleton technologies, EEG-based neurorehabilitation, and AI systems that help physicians analyze medical data more efficiently and make faster clinical decisions.

The third day of Astana AI Week focused on the digital transformation of industry and business. Participants discussed the implementation of artificial intelligence in manufacturing processes, intelligent robotics, enterprise automation, and modern digital solutions for various sectors of the economy. The forum concluded with the final of the AI Hackathon, where participating teams presented practical solutions developed during three days of intensive work.

According to Beibit Abdikenov, Director of the AI Research and Innovation Center at Astana IT University, the development of human capital and innovation remains one of the University's strategic priorities.

"The development of human capital and innovation is of strategic importance. We aspire to position Astana as a city of innovation, with a particular focus on advancing artificial intelligence in industry and healthcare. Astana AI Week is open to students, researchers, and professionals of all ages, creating opportunities for knowledge exchange and collaboration on the technologies of the future," said Beibit Abdikenov.

The best projects presented during Astana AI Week 2026 are expected to be implemented and scaled up, transforming promising ideas into practical technological solutions that contribute to the development of Kazakhstan’s economy and society.

Astana AI Week 2026 once again reaffirmed the role of Astana IT University as one of Kazakhstan’s leading centers for artificial intelligence, science, and innovation, bringing together education, research, government, and industry to shape the technologies of the future.
