Academic Council of “Astana IT University”

The Academic Council of Astana IT University LLP is a collegial body that governs educational, research, extracurricular, innovative, and administrative activities, as well as the strategic development of the University.

The mission of the Academic Council is to ensure effective, transparent, and democratic governance of the University in alignment with its development strategy and the priority objectives of the higher and postgraduate education system.

In its operations, the Academic Council is guided by the legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan, decrees and resolutions of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan, regulatory documents of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Charter of Astana IT University LLP, the Regulations on the Academic Council of Astana IT University LLP, and other internal university regulations.

Key Objectives of the Academic Council:
1) Review, discussion, and decision-making on key issues regarding the academic, extracurricular, research, innovative, and administrative activities of the University.
2) Facilitating the implementation of innovations in educational and scientific processes.
3) Ensuring transparency and accountability to stakeholders.
4) Strengthening collaboration between the University's structural units to achieve common goals.
5) Analyzing the implementation of its own decisions, evaluating results, and adopting corrective measures.

The Academic Council makes strategic decisions across all key areas of University life:
• Strategy and Structure: Defines development vectors; approves policies (academic, quality assurance, marketing, etc.); and initiates the establishment of new schools and departments.
Education: Approves educational programs, catalogs of elective courses (CED), and academic calendars; establishes admission rules and teaching workloads.
Science and Human Resources: Coordinates scientific research; recommends staff for academic titles and state awards; and reviews management reports.
Student Affairs: Decides on the awarding of Rector’s grants and named scholarships; recommends candidates for vacant state educational grants.
• Ethics and Audit: Approves the Student Code of Honor and monitors performance quality through internal and external audit systems.
