IEEE Kazakhstan Section Officially Established: Astana IT University’s Key Role in the Global Engineering Community

IEEE Kazakhstan Section has been officially established in Kazakhstan.

The launch of the national IEEE section marks an important step in strengthening the scientific and technological potential of Kazakhstan and Central Asia. IEEE is the world’s largest professional organization in engineering and high technologies, uniting over 500,000 members across 190+ countries.

Astana IT University, together with the International Information Technology University and with support from IEEE Ukraine Section, played a key role in launching the section and developing IEEE activities in Kazakhstan.

The Chair of IEEE Kazakhstan Section is Yedilkhan Didar, PhD, Professor at Astana IT University. The section unites experts in engineering, IT, artificial intelligence, data analytics, telecommunications, cybersecurity, and robotics.

IEEE Kazakhstan Section supports research, education, international cooperation, and global networking through IEEE initiatives. A special role is held by the IEEE International Conference on Smart Information Systems and Technologies (IEEE SIST), held annually at Astana IT University and remaining the only IEEE conference of this level in Kazakhstan.

“For more than five years, our university has organized IEEE SIST — a platform for discussing applied solutions in AI, intelligent systems, big data, and digital services. The establishment of IEEE Kazakhstan Section opens new opportunities for networking and joint research,” — Andrii Biloshchytskyi Alexandrovich, Vice-Rector for Science and Innovation, Astana IT University.
